As the world has been on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have been daydreaming of escaping to tropical destinations. And what better place to escape than the Maldives? The Maldives is famously known for its crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and breathtaking scenery. However, let's be real, when it comes to vacation goals, things don't always go according to plan. So, let's take a hilarious take on our dream vacation to the Maldives.

Getting There is Half the Battle

As we start planning our vacation, we quickly realize that getting to the Maldives is not exactly easy nor cheap. After hours of searching for flights, we finally manage to find one that is within our budget with a layover in Doha. Sounds good, right? Wrong. The layover is 15 hours long, and we are stuck in the airport. We try to keep ourselves occupied by exploring duty-free shops and eating overpriced airport food. Finally, it's time to board our flight to the Maldives, and we feel like we've won the lottery. However, the excitement is short-lived as we quickly realize that our seats don't recline, and we are stuck in this uncomfortable position for the next 6 hours. Vacation goals, right?

Paradise Found or Paradise Lost?

We finally arrive in the Maldives and are greeted with a hot and humid climate. We make our way to our resort, which is situated on a private island. Sounds luxurious, right? We check into our room, and it smells musty. The air conditioner doesn't work, and the Wi-Fi is nonexistent. We try to ignore these issues and head to the beach, which is where things start to go downhill. The water is filled with jellyfish, and the sand is scorching hot, leaving us hopping from one foot to the other. We finally decide to cool down in the pool, but it's overcrowded with screaming kids, and we can't seem to escape them. So much for a peaceful vacation.

Show Me the Money

We head to the restaurant for dinner, and we're excited to try the local cuisine. However, we quickly realize that the prices are outrageous. We can't afford to eat at the resort for the remainder of our vacation, so we're forced to look for alternative places to eat. We end up finding a small local restaurant that serves delicious food at affordable prices. It's not ideal, but at least we won't be spending all of our money on food.

The Maldives is known for its coral reefs, which are a must-see attraction. We book a snorkeling trip, and it's a disaster from the start. First, we're given flimsy snorkeling gear that barely fits us. Secondly, the water is murky, and we can't see anything. Finally, we spot some coral, but it's not as awe-inspiring as we were expecting. The whole experience is underwhelming, to say the least.

From expensive flights to uncomfortable accommodations and disappointing experiences, our dream vacation can quickly turn into a nightmare.
